"There will never be a really free and enlightened state,
until the state comes to recognize the individual as a higher
and independent power, from which all its own power and
authority are derived, and treats him accordingly."

Consider the issues that are often debated by politicians:

+ Education
+ Health Care
+ The Economy

+ The Drug War

What's the common thread among these issues?

Large government involvement.  The more the government gets involved, the more expensive the situation becomes to the American citizen.

What's the cure for these issues?

Less government involvement is the cure for a more prosperous, peaceful America.

Should we get rid of government entirely?

Absolutely not.  The government has two vital functions:  to protect property and enforce contracts.  Governments of the world that protect property and enforce contracts have the most prosperity and peace.  Governments of the world who don't protect property and don't enforce contracts, have more conflict and poverty.  The index of economic freedom shows this relationship.

Do you want policies that really work or ones that sound good?

In the paragraphs below, I discuss the issues.

Unlike other politicians, my pledges:

     --> are specific

--> bring increased peace and prosperity to EVERYONE

--> will not be influenced by special interests

--> won't change with popular opinion (because they're based on fact)

And, once I'm elected, I will follow through on my pledges.

Education

The federal government has frozen education with the policies and pressure from the department of education (especially the no child left behind act).  The current education system is administrative heavy, communicates poorly with parents, barely meets students' needs and does not keep up with current technology and industry.

I pledge to allow parents to make decisions about their own children and get the Federal Government out of education.

Health Care

The federal government has ruined health care by requiring the insurance companies to insure risky acting people and by requiring the insurance companies to provide un-needed benefits.  Consequently, insurance companies must raise their prices to pay for the risky people and extra benefits.  Instead of providing the benefits that people need, the insurance companies are buried in red tape and production of un-needed benefits.

I pledge to allow the insurance companies to insure people cheaper and allow the health care providers to provide benefits that match their patients' needs.

The Economy

The federal government has weaked the dollar and lowered domestic investment by printing money to fund the war (and other projects).  The government uses this method so they don't have to raise taxes (and lose support).  The cost to the citizen is lower purchasing power (the dollar doesn't buy as much) and worse return on investments.

I pledge to keep the U.S. Dollar strong by bringing back a gold standard for the dollar.

The Drug War

The federal government continues a futile war on drugs.  As law enforcement rids a neighborhood of drug dealers and drugs, the price of the drug increases which makes it more profitable for drug dealers to come back.  Consequently, as long as there is a demand for drugs, someone will find a way to supply them.

The federal government's continues a costly war on drugs.  The more resources and attention given to preventing drugs, the less resources and attention can be given to preventing burglary, rape, murder and terrorism.  Our overcrowded prisons are half filled with inmates charged with simple drug possession.

I pledge to allow the pharmaceutical companies to replace the gangs in the drug trade.  I further pledge to release law enforcement from the futile burden of the drug war and release the taxpayer from the expensive burden of the drug war.
